Sport tutors

Sport as a vocational subject is distinct from A-level PE. Vocational sport runs through Pearson's BTEC Tech Award at KS4 and BTEC Nationals at Level 3 (the 2016 legacy suite teaches out into 2026/27, with a new BTEC L3 AAQ in Sport first teaching September 2026), plus NCFE Level 3 Certificate / Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity with pathways into coaching, exercise science and outdoor activity. CIMSPA-aligned personal-training qualifications sit alongside for students heading into the gym sector. There's no T Level in Sport yet. Sports, Fitness and Exercise Science is in the 2028 V Level wave, so BTEC and NCFE remain the live routes. Tutoring helps most with anatomy and physiology recall (muscle, skeletal and cardiorespiratory systems are heavy memorisation), with sports psychology theory and the named-researcher application questions (Weiner, Vealey), and with the externally-assessed pre-release case-study units that count for half the grade at L3. Look for tutors with sport-science degrees plus explicit BTEC or NCFE teaching experience. A-level PE tutors don't always transfer to the vocational assessment style.
