I am a highly experienced History and Politics tutor with 15 years of teaching experience across the UK and internationally. Having taught for 11 years in inner-city London secondary schools and 4 years in South Korean high schools, I have worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities and aspirations. For the past seven years, I have served as Head of History and Politics, leading successful departments, developing outstanding curricula and helping students consistently achieve excellent examination results.

I specialise in GCSE History and A Level History and Politics, supporting students across the major examination boards. Whether you’re aiming to move from a Grade 5 to a Grade 7, secure an A, or push for an A*, I provide carefully tailored tuition that develops subject knowledge, analytical thinking and the exam skills needed to maximise marks.

My lessons are structured, engaging and completely centred around the individual student. I begin by identifying gaps in knowledge, misconceptions and weaknesses in exam technique before creating a personalised programme that targets the areas which will make the greatest difference. Alongside mastering course content, I place a strong emphasis on essay writing, source analysis, argument construction, revision strategies and the examination techniques that distinguish good answers from outstanding ones.

Throughout my career I have successfully supported students in a variety of contexts. I have helped high-attaining students secure places at competitive universities by achieving top grades, while also working with students who have lacked confidence or struggled academically, enabling them to exceed their predicted grades through patient, targeted support. My experience as a classroom teacher and Head of Department means I understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how students can achieve their full potential.

I hold a BA (Hons) in History, specialising in American and Russian History, as well as an MA in International Journalism, where I studied the relationship between governments, politics and the mass media. These academic interests enrich my teaching, allowing me to bring historical events and political issues to life with real-world context that helps students engage more deeply with the subject.

Above all, I genuinely love teaching. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student suddenly grasp a difficult concept, that “light bulb” moment when everything clicks. Building confidence, developing independent thinkers and helping students realise they are capable of more than they believed is what motivates me every day.
