Primary Education covers tutoring across the National Curriculum in the early years and primary years, rather than a single subject like Maths or English. Parents reach for it when they want one classroom-style tutor for reading, writing, maths and the wider primary offer: homework support, SATs confidence, or catching up after a disrupted year. It helps most when the gap is breadth, not one weak topic. Look for qualified primary teachers (PGCE Primary, QTS) who know the National Curriculum, the Year 6 SATs, the phonics check, and the now-optional Year 2 assessments some schools still run, not secondary specialists working downwards.
Key Stage 2 covers Years 3 to 6 (ages 7-11), ending with the Year 6 SATs in maths, reading, and grammar/punctuation/spelling (SPaG). It's where most primary-to-secondary academic gaps are formed and where tutoring demand peaks at primary level. Year 6 SATs aren't life-or-death but they affect set placement at secondary in many schools, and the reading paper specifically (fast comprehension under time pressure) is where most students lose ground.
